Planning and coordinating the detailed logistics of transporting precious works of art is Oxford Exhibition Service's speciality. We understand the needs and concerns of lenders, borrowers, buyers, acquirers and curators and guarantee a full commitment to the safe handling of their works of art.
We provide a complete service encompassing route planning, transit documentation, crating and secure transportation through to installation and storage. We exceed government indemnity requirements and, when required, can arrange insurance to cover all works of art. We work to very high standards of security and hold a Home Office Section 5 Firearms Licence.
In partnership with our clients, both national and international, we are reducing the carbon footprint of art transportation by operating environmentally friendly vehicles and encouraging part loading.
Our art-carrying transport fleet is as tightly run as any racing team. Currently it comprises eight purpose built vehicles all equipped with air suspension, alarms linked to a 24 hour monitoring station, high security locks, international mobile phones, satellite tracking and tail lifts.
Selected vehicles are also fitted with climate control systems that meet museum conservation standards and sleeper cabs providing accommodation for up to four couriers.
Detailed specifications of individual vehicles (including our latest gas powered light truck) are available from our password protected Extranet.
Satellite tracking enables us to keep a constant check on your consignment. It gives us an accurate indication of E.T.A. and can help confirm road conditions. It also allows us to monitor and record whenever a vehicle’s ignition is turned on and off and when its back doors are opened or closed. This information is stored so we can, if necessary, replay a trip for administrative reasons.
All vehicles are fitted with a silent panic alarm button that instantly sends a message to our 24-hour monitoring station. We can then track a vehicle in distress and, if necessary, pass its exact location to the emergency services.
For our technicians on the road satellite tracking is less of a ‘big brother’-type tyrant and more of an invaluable tool. It not only helps them navigate the best routes round traffic delays but stops them feeling isolated and vulnerable.
For a cost-effective solution to your art transport needs, we can negotiate part loads with other lenders willing to share vehicles to move their valuables.
Such symbiotic relationships represent value for money and help to minimise the environmental effects of art transportation.
A part load schedule is available from our password protected Extranet.
