Oxford Exhibition Services installs and dismantles entire exhibitions or individual works of art, from Old Masters to contemporary sculptures. Our experience covers working on-site for museums, art galleries, national and regional institutions, country houses, universities, businesses, and private individuals. We have all the necessary insurance cover to facilitate such work.
However complicated the situation - be it high ceilings, large sculpture or something totally unique - our art handlers will work with you to find the safest, most effective solution. They are chosen for their empathy with art and trained in the handling, packing and display of many objects. They are your ‘skilled hands’ and will thoughtfully follow instructions to implement plans.
We also provide a full service for temporary exhibitions including display screens, lighting and plinths.
OES knows that careful packing is crucial to the shipment and storage of works of art and other unique objects. That’s why we assess each item to decide on the most appropriate packaging. This, must not only protect the object from surface abrasion and changes in environmental conditions, but must be capable of absorbing shock to its most vulnerable parts.
Whether bespoke or off the self, all of our packing solutions use appropriate conservation grade materials. For more information on our bespoke crate building service and hireable range of packing cases, please see Crating.
We handle the wrapping of objects with equal diligence. Our art handlers are all trained in how to minimise risk to fragile items during packing and participate in team building exercises designed to develop their combined coordination when manoeuvring awkward objects.
Our art handlers provide a reliable, safe and secure installation service. With experience of public sector, commercial and private environments, they are skilled at working in challenging locations such as stairways and atriums.
Before any installation is started, we carry out an on-site risk assessment. This covers both the safety of art works and technicians during installation and the longer-term security of installed exhibits.
We offer a number of fixing and mounting options and can supply screens, plinths and display cases in a variety of forms for rental or purchase. We can also make display furniture to your specifications and offer specialist technical support in areas such as lighting and computer systems.
Recognising clients needs for temporary display areas, OES has designed and made available, for sale or hire, an economic flexible display screen system.
Freestanding, strong yet lightweight, the plywood faced, softwood framed display screens are made of fire retardant materials and can be finished in any colour. They can also be supplied with a low-voltage lighting system.
Screen dimensions are 2.4m high (8') by 1.2m wide (4') by 50mm deep (2"), although they can be manufactured to any size. A concealed mechanical interlocking system allows the screens to be rapidly erected and dismantled.
